# Course Review: Diversity, Equity & Inclusion on Coursera In today's globalized world, understanding and implementing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) has never been more crucial. The Coursera course titled **Diversity, Equity & Inclusion** offers an insightful and practical approach to these fundamental issues within the workplace. Developed in collaboration with the HRO DE&I Training Workstream, Enterprise Learning, and Corporate Training/Leadership Development, this course aims to equip learners with a solid foundation in DE&I principles and tools necessary to foster an inclusive environment. ## Overview of the Course The DE&I course is structured into three comprehensive modules, each targeted at varying audiences, including employees, management, and executives. The content is designed not to force any change in opinion but to enhance awareness of unconscious biases, cultural competencies, and the barriers that exist in achieving true diversity and inclusion within organizations. ## Syllabus Breakdown ### **Week 1: Introduction to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion** The first week sets the stage for your DE&I journey. It focuses on fundamental concepts, encouraging learners to engage in ‘courageous conversations’ that go beyond just race and gender. This module is crucial as it emphasizes shared responsibilities in enhancing DE&I in both personal and professional spaces. Through interactive assignments and discussions, participants will gain insights into how DE&I practices can improve workplace dynamics and create a supportive culture. ### **Week 2: Diversity in Action** Building upon the foundational knowledge established in the first week, the second module dives deeper into the complexities of DE&I, particularly highlighting unconscious bias. Here, learners will explore practical strategies for celebrating differences within teams and organizations. This module encourages a proactive approach to diversity, equipping participants with tools to recognize and challenge biases in their everyday interactions. It is particularly valuable for anyone wishing to contribute positively to their organizational culture. ### **Week 3: Creating an Inviting Culture** Targeted primarily at leaders and executives, the third week's focus is on instilling behaviors and organizational changes that nurture inclusion. Excellent overview of the subject - short, pointed and very useful in today's work environment.

This was an excellent course, easy to follow. However, some questions on the quizzes were a little off and not set up properly. But it allows you to retry several times.
