Introduction

Certainly! Here's a comprehensive review and recommendation for the Coursera course based on the provided details: --- **Course Review: Building and Orchestrating ETL Workflows on Snowflake** Having completed the previous Snowflake Masterclass, I can confidently say that this course is the perfect next step for anyone looking to deepen their expertise in Snowflake and extend their skills into building and managing ETL workflows. The previous course offered an excellent foundation, covering Snowflake fundamentals, best practices for data loading and unloading, and an in-depth understanding of its features. However, the missing piece was always how to effectively build and orchestrate complex data workflows, and this course addresses exactly that. **Course Content & Structure:** This course is well-structured, focusing on practical skills you need to build robust ETL pipelines. You will learn how to leverage Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration, use Talend to generate generic data ingestion and processing code, and implement tracking mechanisms like audit tables, command logging, and time/credit consumption. The hands-on experience is particularly valuable, as you'll build a real-world workflow processing over 250 GB of NYC traffic data. Additionally, the course covers integrating Snowflake with Python, providing insights into data analytics and automation. The provision of preconfigured Jupyter notebooks makes it easier to run Python scripts seamlessly within the Snowflake environment, reinforcing learning through practical application. **Ease of Learning:** While the tools like Talend, Airflow, and Python might seem intimidating initially, the course makers have thoughtfully included introductions to these tools, making it accessible even for beginners. This approach ensures that learners without prior experience can follow along and gain confidence. **Pros:** - Hands-on, real-world project involving large-scale data processing. - Comprehensive coverage of ETL workflow building, including orchestration, automation, and performance tracking. - Step-by-step guidance on using tools like Airflow, Talend, and Python. - Preconfigured notebooks and resources to accelerate learning. - Suitable for learners with a basic understanding of Snowflake, looking to advance into workflow orchestration. **Cons:** - Requires commitment and willingness to learn multiple tools simultaneously. - Some familiarity with data workflows and coding is helpful, though not mandatory thanks to the introductory content. **Recommendation:** I highly recommend this course for data engineers, data analysts, or anyone involved in data integration tasks who wants to elevate their skills with Snowflake. It bridges the gap between understanding Snowflake fundamentals and implementing end-to-end data workflows. Enrolling in this course will not only enhance your technical capabilities but also prepare you to handle large-scale data projects efficiently. --- **Final Verdict:** This course is a valuable investment for those aiming to master ETL processes on Snowflake. Whether you're looking to automate workflows, optimize data processing, or integrate various tools, you'll find this course enriching and practical. Don't miss out on the opportunity to learn from real-world scenarios and hands-on projects. Enroll now and take your Snowflake skills to the next level! --- Let me know if you'd like a shorter summary or a different tone!

Overview

In our previous course Snowflake Masterclass [Real time demos+Best practices+Labs] we deep-dived and understood the fundamentals of snowflake, solved lot of assignments, and understood best practices to load data and unload data. Also, we closely evaluated most of the snowflake features understanding how they work under the hood. Through these discussions, you realized how to use Snowflake efficiently. There was one missing piece, How to build and orchestrate ETL workflows on Snowflake. This course is just about that.In this course, we are going to learn,Build workflows in Airflow. We will leverage Talend capabilities to build generic code to ingest data and process data in snowflake. We will build audit tables and record every command we fire on the snowflake. We will record the time consumed for each task and capture snowflake credits. Once we build the framework we will build a workflow to process and transform 250 + GB volume of NYC traffic data. At last, we will connect the Snowflake with python and write code to capture stats of data we loaded to the snowflake.you will also get access to preconfigured Jupyter notebook to run your python code on the Snowflake. If you have previously not worked with Talend, Airflow and Python don't worry they are very simple tools I will provide the necessary introduction.I am sure you will learn a lot from this journey. See you in the course!!
