**Course Review: OpenFOAM Programming from A to Multi Region (Coursera)** If you're venturing into the world of computational fluid dynamics (CFD), or if you're an experienced modeler looking to expand your toolkit, the "OpenFOAM Programming from A to Multi Region" course on Coursera is an excellent choice. This course offers a comprehensive introduction to OpenFOAM, a powerful open-source CFD software that stands out because of its flexibility in programming custom solvers. **Overview** Designed for both beginners and seasoned professionals, this course demystifies the process of creating custom models and solvers in OpenFOAM. Unlike many modeling tools that push users into predefined workflows, OpenFOAM empowers you to break these boundaries and develop tailored solutions for complex simulations. The instructor emphasizes clarity and simplicity, making technical concepts accessible without sacrificing depth. **What You'll Learn** Although the course does not specify a detailed syllabus, it promises to cover: - The fundamentals of modeling with OpenFOAM - How to develop and customize your own solvers - Techniques to handle multi-region problems and advanced modeling scenarios This focus on programming opens up a new dimension of possibilities for users, from modifying existing solvers to imagining entirely new solutions suited to unique problems. **Teaching Style & Accessibility** The instructor strives to make the content engaging, straightforward, and enjoyable. The approach is hands-on, practical, and designed to build confidence in programming within OpenFOAM. Whether you're just starting out or looking to refine your skills, the step-by-step guidance aims to keep learners motivated and help them achieve tangible results. **Recommendation** I highly recommend "OpenFOAM Programming from A to Multi Region" for anyone interested in CFD modeling who wishes to go beyond using pre-packaged solutions. If you're motivated to learn how to program your own solvers and unlock the full potential of OpenFOAM, this course provides a solid foundation and the inspiration to do so. While the lack of a detailed syllabus might seem unconventional, the practical focus makes it a valuable investment of your time. By the end of the course, you should feel confident in creating custom models and extending OpenFOAM's capabilities to suit your specific needs. **Final Verdict** This course is a user-friendly, practical, and empowering entry into OpenFOAM programming. Whether you're a beginner eager to learn or an experienced modeler wanting to push boundaries, this course offers the tools and motivation to advance your CFD skills and innovate within your projects. ---
Whether you are a beginner in modeling or you are a great modeler this course is going to be useful. This course is about breaking the modeling boundaries and be able to actually create any model you want to do. OpenFOAM allows us to program our own solvers and that's what makes it special, because most of the modeling software have a set of pre-defined solvers that you need to stick with.So in this course you will learn how to model using OpenFOAM and how to be able to create your solvers. I'm going to make it easy, simple and hopefully fun to follow my lectures ;)). All I guarantee to you is that you will find it useful at the end.
