Overview

The theme of the course is "Microorganism-Environment-Human Body interaction". Microbes produce antibiotics to survive and dominate in environment by eradicating other micro-biota. They also invade and proliferate in animal body to enter a different environment and consequently diseased state is initiated. The severity of disease and human survival depends on which one dominates and how - microbial toxins or human defense system. Drugs taken to control pathogens goes wasteful if extra-chromosomal genetic elements, plasmids and transposons manifest resistance. Pathogens in greater number return back to environment and also dominate there by antibiosis tactics. At commercial scale more and more drugs are developed and resultant, diverse drug-resistance attributes are emerging. Having such a complex and dynamic interaction, one needs to learn and practice the finer details of each component of the "ecosystem", mentioned above in the course theme. Hence, in this course "Microbial Physiology - 2", the three sections were meticulously prepared. The first one, together with the last lecture of previous course "Microbial Physiology - 1", provides details of genetic set-up of microbes towards survival and proliferation. The second section highlights dominance of microbial pathogens against human body so as to bring about diseased state. The third section describes how natural tactics of survival (antibiosis) can be used in medicine. Notwithstanding, microbes may overcome the treatments and may dominate this internal environment of human body.In my opinion even though all aspects as shown in the three sections do not apparently relate to each other, one has to bring them in a common "doctrine" and address them together in order to find a logical outcome of each component of the so-called "ecosystem" in which microbes are the principle organisms.Eight lectures are designed of approx. 45 minutes each because this much time is needed to get a comprehensive picture of the theme and can justify the contents thereof. These lectures also align with the Credit system of the degree programmes being undertaken by the universities and colleges in India and abroad. The lectures are narrated in Hindi as well as English to address larger audience. Two practical training hand-outs are also given to strengthen the course contents. One can readily use these "dry-lab" demos. So, happy reading and best of luck. पाठ्यक्रम का विषय "सूक्ष्मजीव-पर्यावरण-मानव शरीर अंतःक्रिया" है। सूक्ष्मजीव अन्य सूक्ष्म जीवों को नष्ट करके पर्यावरण में जीवित रहने और प्रभुत्व स्थापित करने के लिए एंटीबायोटिक्स का उत्पादन करते हैं। वे जंतुओं के शरीर पर भी आक्रमण करते हैं और एक अलग वातावरण में प्रवेश करने के लिए उसमें वृद्धि करते हैं और परिणामस्वरूप रोग की स्थिति उत्पन्न होती है। रोग की गंभीरता और मानव अस्तित्व इस बात पर निर्भर करता है कि कौन और कैसे प्रभुत्व स्थापित करता है - सूक्ष्मजीव विष या मानव रक्षा प्रणाली। यदि गुणसूत्रेतर आनुवंशिक तत्व, प्लास्मिड और ट्रांसपोज़न प्रतिरोध प्रदर्शित करते हैं, तो रोगजनकों को नियंत्रित करने के लिए ली जाने वाली दवाएँ व्यर्थ हो जाती हैं। रोगजनक बड़ी संख्या में पर्यावरण में वापस लौट आते हैं और प्रतिजीविता युक्तियों द्वारा वहाँ प्रभुत्व भी स्थापित कर लेते हैं। व्यावसायिक स्तर पर अधिक से अधिक दवाएँ विकसित की जा रही हैं और परिणामस्वरूप, विविध दवा-प्रतिरोध विशेषताएँ उभर रही हैं।इस तरह की जटिल और गतिशील अंतःक्रिया के कारण, पाठ्यक्रम विषय में ऊपर उल्लिखित "पारिस्थितिकी तंत्र" के प्रत्येक घटक की बारीकियों को सीखने और अभ्यास करने की आवश्यकता होती है। इसलिए, इस पाठ्यक्रम "माइक्रोबियल फिजियोलॉजी - 2" में, तीन खंड सावधानीपूर्वक तैयार किए गए थे। पहला खंड, पिछले पाठ्यक्रम "माइक्रोबियल फिजियोलॉजी - 1" के अंतिम व्याख्यान के साथ, जीवित रहने और प्रसार के लिए सूक्ष्मजीवों की आनुवंशिक व्यवस्था का विवरण प्रदान करता है। दूसरा खंड मानव शरीर के खिलाफ सूक्ष्मजीवी रोगजनकों के प्रभुत्व पर प्रकाश डालता है ताकि रोगग्रस्त स्थिति उत्पन्न हो सके। तीसरा खंड बताता है कि जीवित रहने की प्राकृतिक रणनीति (एंटीबायोसिस) का उपयोग चिकित्सा में कैसे किया जा सकता है। फिर भी, सूक्ष्मजीव उपचारों को मात दे सकते हैं और मानव शरीर के इस आंतरिक वातावरण पर हावी हो सकते हैं।मेरी राय में, यद्यपि तीनों खंडों में दर्शाए गए सभी पहलू एक-दूसरे से स्पष्टतः संबंधित नहीं हैं, फिर भी उन्हें एक सामान्य "सिद्धांत" में लाना होगा तथा उन पर एक साथ विचार करना होगा, ताकि तथाकथित "पारिस्थितिकी तंत्र" के प्रत्येक घटक का तार्किक परिणाम निकाला जा सके, जिसमें सूक्ष्मजीव प्रमुख जीव हैं।आठ व्याख्यान लगभग 45 मिनट के डिज़ाइन किए गए हैं क्योंकि विषय की व्यापक समझ प्राप्त करने और उसकी विषयवस्तु को उचित ठहराने के लिए इतना समय आवश्यक है। ये व्याख्यान भारत और विदेशों में विश्वविद्यालयों और महाविद्यालयों द्वारा संचालित डिग्री कार्यक्रमों की क्रेडिट प्रणाली के अनुरूप भी हैं। व्याख्यान हिंदी के साथ-साथ अंग्रेजी में भी प्रस्तुत किए जाते हैं ताकि अधिक से अधिक लोगों को संबोधित किया जा सके। पाठ्यक्रम की विषयवस्तु को और सुदृढ़ बनाने के लिए दो व्यावहारिक प्रशिक्षण पुस्तिकाएँ भी दी गई हैं। इन "ड्राई-लैब" डेमो का उपयोग कोई भी आसानी से कर सकता है। तो, पढ़ने का आनंद लें और शुभकामनाएँ।
