Certainly! Here's a comprehensive review and recommendation for the Coursera course based on the provided details: --- **Course Review: Mastering Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) on Coursera** If you're looking to deepen your understanding of cloud computing with a focus on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, this course is an excellent choice. Designed for beginners and intermediate learners alike, it offers a well-structured journey from the fundamentals of cloud technology to advanced OCI concepts. **Course Content & Structure** The course begins by laying a solid foundation in cloud computing, explaining essential concepts such as the different types of cloud deployments — Public, Private, and Hybrid clouds — and clarifying key acronyms like IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS. This foundational knowledge ensures that participants are well-prepared before moving on to the specifics of Oracle Cloud. A major highlight is the detailed exploration of Oracle Cloud’s subscription models, complemented by practical demos on sign-up and sign-in processes. These hands-on sessions make the learning experience engaging and applicable. The course then progresses to an in-depth dive into Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), focusing on its architecture. Key components like Compartments, Virtual Cloud Networks (VCNs), Availability Domains, and Shapes & OCPUs are explained with clarity through demos that guide learners on creating Compartments and VCNs. Further, the course covers Oracle Cloud Database services such as Oracle Data Cloud Service (ODCS), Exadata Service, and Exadata Cloud@Customer. Practical demos on provisioning databases in OCI and OCI-Classic environments provide valuable insights into managing Oracle databases in the cloud. A critical skill covered is SSH connectivity. The course walks through creating public and private keys on Unix and Windows systems, establishing SSH connections from both platforms, and connecting as admin or root users on Oracle Cloud Machines. These real-world demonstrations demystify secure access and system administration in cloud environments. The capstone of the course involves an advanced scenario: connecting an AWS EC2 instance to an Oracle Cloud database, followed by establishing SQL Developer connections using SSH tunnels. This segment not only solidifies cloud connectivity skills but also emphasizes interoperability between different cloud services. **Review & Recommendations** This course excels in providing a comprehensive, practical understanding of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Its combination of theoretical explanations and hands-on demonstrations makes complex concepts accessible and applicable. I highly recommend this course to IT professionals, system administrators, database administrators, and anyone interested in cloud technology, especially those targeting Oracle Cloud. The course's practical approach ensures that learners can confidently navigate OCI, manage cloud resources, and troubleshoot connections. **Final Verdict** If you're eager to demystify Oracle Cloud and gain actionable skills in cloud architecture, database provisioning, and secure connectivity, this course is a worthwhile investment. It prepares you not only for implementing Oracle Cloud solutions but also for integrating OCI with other cloud providers like AWS, making it highly versatile and valuable. --- Feel free to let me know if you'd like a more condensed or detailed review!
I will be looking to delve deeper into the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and demystify the entire dilemma around this.We will start with the very basics like: What is Cloud Computing , What are the Types of Cloud: Pubic / Private / Hybrid? What are the meanings of the important acronyms like IaaS/ PaaS/ SaaS.A good understanding will be given about Oracle Cloud , it's Subscription Models , Demos will be done to show the Sign-up & Sign-in to Oracle Cloud. Then the discussion will move onto the OCI (Second Generation Cloud ).Will perform a Deep Dive into the Architecture of OCI. We will take a look into important concepts like: What are Compartments / VCN's / Availability Domains / Shapes& OCPu's. A couple of demos for the creation of Compartments / VCN's will be done. The next milestone would be getting an understanding around Database Cloud Services like: ODCS / Exadata Service / Exadata Cloud@Customer. After this we shall perform demos: Provisioning Database in OCI & OCI-ClassicThe last milestone would be related to Understanding ssh connectivity, There will be Demos showing how you create public / Private keys in Unix & Windows , Demo showing the ssh connectivity from Windows server & Unix Sever will be done. Will demonstrate how to connect as Admin User / Root on Oracle Cloud Machines. In the end we will challenge ourselves and will connect AWS EC-2 machine in Amazon cloud to Oracle Database in Oracle Cloud. The last demo will be on Sql Developer connectivity using the SSH Tunnels where the listener port 1521 has been blocked.
