Overview

Part II of the course Enterprise Architects provides a very detailed coverage of enterprise architects as specialized professionals from various angles. This part discusses different types of resources, instruments and activities of enterprise architects, the work of architects in organizations as an integration of all their properties and their profession as a whole in the broader occupational, historical and terminological contexts.Part II consists of nine consecutive sections:Section 6 (Resources of Enterprise Architects) covers resources possessed by enterprise architects and describes in detail all the major classes of their resources: knowledge, skills and experienceSection 7 (Instruments of Enterprise Architects) introduces different categories of instruments of enterprise architects including EA artifacts, the CSVLOD taxonomy for organizing them and some other instrumentsSection 8 (The Catalog of Enterprise Architecture Artifacts) presents a comprehensive catalog of EA artifacts corresponding to the six general types defined by the CSVLOD taxonomy: Considerations, Standards, Visions, Landscapes, Outlines and DesignsSection 9 (Using Enterprise Architecture Artifacts) describes in great detail the use of EA artifacts by architects for documenting the existing situation and capturing architectural solutions, as well as the architectural context formed by these artifactsSection 10 (Basic Activities of Enterprise Architects) introduces different types of activities of enterprise architects with their contexts and thoroughly describes their three basic activities: analyzing the external environment, studying the internal environment and providing advisory servicesSection 11 (Leading the Development of Plans) continues the discussion of the activities of enterprise architects and describes in great detail their central activity: leading the development of plansSection 12 (Ensuring Adherence to Plans) finishes the discussion of the activities of enterprise architects and describes in great detail their closing activity: ensuring adherence to plansSection 13 (The Work of Enterprise Architects) provides an integral view of the work of enterprise architects in different contexts in terms of their activities, describes their working schedule and explains their advocacy of technical interestsSection 14 (The Profession of Enterprise Architects) discusses the profession of enterprise architects with its features, the historical evolution of their profession over decades and different understandings of architects prevalent in the industry
