Electrostatics is that branch of Physics which deals with static charges or stationary charges and their interactions. Thus the information about statical electricity is the main objective of this course. Here we discuss basic electrostatic phenomena and the discussion is then carried out to the advance level step by step. We discuss basic Coulomb's law of electrostatics and gives a clear idea about electrostatic field and potential and their inter relation. Superposition Principle of electrostatics is also discussed carefully for both discrete and continuous distribution of charges. The behavior of dipoles and their interactions with externally applied field is discussed here and the discussion is extended to quadruple interaction. Also electrostatic potential energy and energy density along with electrostatic self energy for ensemble of charges or for given assembly of charges is discussed in this course in details. Another essential part of electrostatics is dielectric and capacitor. Here dielectric polarization and dielectric behavior is discussed at standard level and also Gauss's law of electrostatics and its extension for polarized dielectric is made involved. Also the idea of capacitor with its charge storing capacity is discussed in this section and several interaction of capacitors with their application are discussed here. I think that the students of science at basic and advanced stage, both will be highly benefited by this course and it will be helpful for their subject preparation.
