This course will teach authors how to create believable characters that come to life off the page. Participants will learn how to create character arcs that take their characters on a journey of transformation over the course of the story. A character may begin as one person and end up another, or is not changed in some way. Learning to create a believable back story for characters is a key element as well. In order for readers to feel connected to characters, they have to know who they are, where they came from, and it must be laid out in the book so as not to dump information on readers in a way that is jarring. When an author knows who their character or characters are, they will be able to present them in a way that brings readers into another world and makes them believe they are experiencing the life of these fictional people. This course will give authors the tools to create believable characters that are exciting to read about as well as learning to create the arc of a story, choose a theme for their book, and explore how to develop a character's history, backstory, and future journey.
