Syllabus

AI fundamentals

The term "Artificial Intelligence" conjures up images of sci-fi novels & movies, fascination, and even fear. In this course, we'll break down AI and look at the basics of what it actually is, and how it works. We'll put it in context using an OECD framework, look at how it can be used, explore types of AI, and explain the technology behind it.

Building AI

The requirements for developing AI systems have some similarities with other kinds of development projects. But, there are also a number of things unique to this type of development. In this course, we'll cover how AI 'learns," the AI Development Lifecycle, and the physical requirements for building AI system.

Responsible AI

AI is an emerging technology, so it's important to examine how it might impact individuals and society, and to discuss the principles under which we can maximize the benefits of it while minimizing harm. In this course, we'll take a look at the various harms AI could cause, and just as important, we'll examine the characteristics of responsibly implemented AI systems.

Existing & Emerging Laws

The legal landscape around AI is a bit "Wild West" at the moment. The technology has outpaced legislation, and ethics discussions, but many countries are working on catching up. We'll talk about how existing laws apply to AI, and about emerging legislation across the globe.

AI Governance & Risk Management

This module evaluates different AI governance models, explains risk management concepts as applied to AI, identifies planning and scoping activities, discusses the role of testing in AI governance, and details design processes for continual evaluation and improvement of an AI system.

AI Security & Privacy

In this module, we'll identify security issues unique to AI and privacy issues related to AI. We'll finish out the course and path with a final video wrap up.

Overview

Whether you're in a technical role wanting to learn more about the legal aspects of AI, or in a legal role wanting to learn more about the technical aspects of AI, this course is for you. By the end of the course, you will have a thorough understanding of AI, it's uses, and the contexts in which it will likely be implemented. We'll explore types of AI, machine learning, the AI development lifecycle, AI governance & risk management, the current and emerging legal landscape surrounding AI, as well
